New crate - side

I moved so this image is blurred a little but the securing bungie for this is stored on the crate looping through and hooked .

New crate - positioning

Slides up against the front edge of the well just as the original crate

New crate - securing

Using the original hardware (for securing rods on the original holder?) I hook the bungie in holding the crate down and pulling to the front. This would not work with the crate mounted rod holder as it would tip back I think.

Folding rod rack

Folded and ready to travel. With the rod holders in I can lift the rod holder and rods off the boat and fold the supports as shown then the reels are kept off the ground by the rod but and the rod rack. I used the cheap Berkleys as they include ALL mounting hardware.

pivoting elbow

I used a drill to make the two end holes and a saw to remove the grove.

Folding rod rack - open

top bar: 34.5 in
short riser: 3 in
long riser (fits into rod holder): 15 in

The top bar is connected to T's on each end. You can use an elbow but I thought I might put an extender or something else in the open end of the tee. The 3 in. riser goes into the bottom of the tee. The short riser goes into the elbow with a slot cut to allow pivoting (see pic). The long riser connects to the other end of the pivot elbow. I added caps to make the fit in the boat rod holder more snug.
